When you read a novel do you look at the map? Do you refer to it time and time again as the story moves around the world? I do. It is a terrific way to really get your reader involved in the story and in the world. The prose you have written will carry your reader throuigh this world but if you really want to draw your reader in you might want to consider adding a map. And your new world is a place that your reader will adventure through. Whether it be science fiction or fantasy you have probably created a new world.
